#612 OIC Trial - adding Integration Insight

I return to the main Cloud Service page -

3 ocpus are used, leaving one for Integration Insight.

I click on Create Service -

Take a coffee break -

I can now open the Insight Instance -

I can open the Insight design time -

Now all we need to do is register our OIC instance for Insight -

I just enter the Integration/Process url -
Fomat: https://yourInstanceName-yourDomain.gbcom-south-1.oraclecloud.com

Now we have the full stack in the Insight instance.

I could, of course, do the same in the Integration/Process instance.

I click Register and enter the url for the Insight instance.

so simple!

#611 Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) Trials - it's so easy!

Oracle Integration Cloud Trials

Just log into cloud.oracle.com and click Try for Free.

You provide your credit card details as proof of identity.
NO money is deducted from your account.

Your credit card data can also be used, IF you decide to Upgrade to Paid, at the end of the trial.
You will be informed anyway, by email, shortly before the trial period ends.

So what does $300 in credits get me in respect of OIC?
From a trial perspective - 1 ocpu for 30 days= $75. Ergo, you have 4 ocpus for 1 month
This is sufficient to set up an OIC env with 1 ocpu for DB CS, 2 ocpus for OIC (Integration and Process), 1 ocpu for Integration Insight. Both Insight and Integration/Process can leverage the same DB CS instance.

So I enter my details -

My cell number for a verification code -

Now I can enter my credit card details - remember the trial is FREE,
this is purely for verification purposes.

I do the necessary and click Complete -

I check my Inbox -

I click to Get Started 

I set up a new password -

I now see the Guided Journey page -

The starter page for trials. Here you can click on an icon, answer a couple of questions -
and the desired trial will be provisioned for you. Currently there is no icon for Integration, but that is on the way.

As we say in Ireland, there are many ways to skin a cat, not that I've ever done that myself.
In the case of OIC we can just pick a stack template that will install OIC and its dependents,
or else provision the individual components separately. Naturally, the stack template is the way to go, but I will discuss both in this post.

But firstly, some words about the various OIC flavours -

Oracle Integration Cloud Flavours -

OIC can be provisioned in 3 ways - i.e we have 3 feature sets -

1. Integration  - for someone who just needs ICS style functionality, e.g. connecting SaaS apps to
SaaS apps or SaaS to on premise, using the technology adapters. Technology adapters include Oracle DB, File, JMS, SOAP, REST etc.

2. Integration and Process - for those who just don't want to connect apps. Maybe they have SaaS apps they want to extend, or other business process needs. This will include PCS style functionality.
This version is also required, if you want to leverage the Integration on-premise app adapters, such as SAP, EBS, Siebel, JDE etc.

3. Integration Analytics - add business user visibility into integration and processes to the mix. For example, in an order processing scenario - what is the average processing time for an order, what are the top products? etc. Our component in this space is known as Integration Insight and provides OOTB business user dashboards. You can also create your own, if these do not suffice.

So now to the provisioning -

Option 1 - Leverage the Stacked Template

The above will set up an instance for you with OIC (Integration/Process) and

an instance running Integration Analytics.

You see 2 integration icons - clicking on each of these and you see what they contain.

Click on the Template tab and you will see the instructions -

You see that the featureSet default is set to "Integration and Process"
You see the allowed values are -
- Integration
- Integration and Process
- Integration and Process + Integration Analytics


You like the setup? You want to install it? You just click on the following icon.
That's all there is to it.

Simple! Now to the more pedestrian approach -

Option 2 - Provision the individual components

Here I create the storage, then provision the DB CS instance and, finally, OIC.

0. Create Storage

You could do the above, or just create the storage when creating the DB CS instance

2. Provision OIC

Now that we have the DB CS instance, we can provision OIC -

Check out the flavours available - the 3 feature sets discussed earlier.

Soon the Integration Cloud Service appears in my cloud services dashboard -

I click on Integration Cloud - and then open the Service Console -

Now I can navigate to the OIC home page.
I bookmark this link.

I click on the Process Builder link -

I return to the Integration Cloud Home and click on the Integrations link -

Note the pre-seeded integrations packaged with OIC.
